Roblox Back Online After Over 48 Hours

The wait is over

The gaming platform Roblox is finally back online after the abrupt outage earlier this week. With playercount.com showing 1.3 Million members back at play. The outage threated the companies Halloween traffic, surely an important date for a company bringing in almost $1 Billion in revenue last year.

The official Roblox account finally made a statement on Saturday morning. The tweet was vague and left many to wonder still what the issue was. It took another 7 hours before they released another tweet explaining they had discovered the cause of the outage. According to Roblox, the cause was “internal,” which while vague is the most they seem to be willing to share.

A few hours later they announced that the cause had nothing to do with any partnerships. As originally people believed that the outage occurred due to an in-game Chipotle promotion. It would seem this was just a coincidence that the partnership was occurring at the same time the servers decided to spontaneously combust.

While the possibility of a DDOS attack directed at Roblox isn’t out of the question, the company doesn’t seem to be quick to explain what exactly caused all services to go down for over 2 days. Late Sunday, the company started bringing different regions back online. One by one bringing back to life the player bases eager to hop on their Halloween updates. While memeing on young kids is fun, parents raising their kids through distracting online games were fuming at the outage.

Reddit Reactions

A mega thread was started on Reddit for parents to vent about the game being out, and some of the replies are crazy. Some parents have even caught their kids sneaking onto their devices in the wee hours of the night from the outage:

However funny the reactions, Roblox outage definitely could of made parent’s jobs harder. Actually having to watch your kids instead of putting them in front of a screen for hours is almost unheard of nowadays.
